LARGE CHEST ASSEMBLED FROM MERINID OR SAADIAN LINTELS
Morocco or Spain, 15th-17th century
Rectangular shape with flat lid, wrought-iron lock plate, brass handles probably 18th century, interior lined with modern colored floral fabric, constructed from carved wooden lintels from the same set, with repeated calligraphic and floral decoration, reading "al-hamd" ("praise") in mirrored and braided kufic script.
