CHINE, LUEN-WO DÉBUT DU XXe SIÈCLE

Circular tray Silver, engraved with prunus blossoms, the wing also decorated with applied prunus branches, the lip imitating bamboo. The reverse with the retailer's mark "Luen-Wo", the word "Shanghai" and the silversmith's mark "Qiu Ji". D. 35.5 cm Weight : 1 032 g NOTE: Qiu Ji was an eminent Chinese master goldsmith, active between 1885 and 1915. His pieces, of exceptional quality, are among the finest achievements of Chinese export goldsmiths. He notably worked for the Luen Wo firm, a major retailer of Chinese export silverware, active between 1865 and 1920, in both Shanghai and Canton.
