Description

ARSIC Prvoslav (1932-). "The Skull". 1970. Oil on canvas, signed and dated in pencil lower right. Dim. 34 x 54,5 cm. A few small scattered paint chips. Typical of macabre surrealism, this painting is nevertheless characteristic of ARSIC's production. It is fully in the vein of his contemporaries, of whom he was a representative in Paris, along with the other members of the "Mediale" group, Miodrag Dado Djurić, Ljuba Popović, Vladimir Veličković, Uroš Tošković, originally from Serbia. Arsic is unfortunately the most discreet of them all, despite his undeniable talent. His work is similar to that of Hans Ruedi Giger, Wotjek Suidmak and, above all, Zdzislaw Beksinski.
