"Drawings by George Barbier IMPORTANT set of 100 drawings in hardcover with modern leather-backed folder and matching slipcase, featuring numerous original drawings, watercolors and tracings by George Barbier, signed, monogrammed or attributed to the artist, most mounted on modern Canson paper. They include : 18 pencil drawings and 56 pencil drawings heightened with Indian ink 5 pencil drawings enhanced with watercolor (Amerindians and frogs) 1 Indian ink and chalk drawing (probably an ex libris entitled Reminiscence?) 1 large illustration project for the fourth year of the 1920 garland of months, consisting of 9 drawings on a full page, all in pencil enhanced with Indian ink and blue ink 1 large illustration project for an advertisement for "Poudre discrète" J.C. Boldoot, Brussels, in pencil heightened with Indian ink and blue ink 1 draft illustration for the 1920 Guirlande des mois in pencil and India ink (selected for the cover), 1 draft illustration for a "Toiles de soie naturelle" advertisement in pencil 1 draft illustration for an advertisement for "Parfum tendre", Rigaud, Paris in pencil and Indian ink 1 LARGE DRAWING in India ink heightened with watercolor depicting an elegant woman placing a laurel wreath on a bust 2 Indian ink drawings entitled "La Belle Impéria" and "Débardeur" on the same plate 8 compositions spread over two plates to illustrate L'inconstante et le nonchalant, a Chinese story, in Indian ink 1 large pencil and India ink drawing of a costume for Mistinguett, depicting the cabaret dancer accompanied by a second dancer 3 interesting pencil and India ink drawings for fashion projects, each surmounted by the 2 previous tracing states, giving 3 states of the costume, broken down, dated 1922. The set includes numerous annotations by the artist, most of them project drawings and preparatory sketches, some of them very accomplished or even finalized. Also included is a large original Indian ink drawing signed E, Larry and dated 1909, depicting an amusing party scene."
