"Maurice GENEVOIX - Le roman de Renard From Jacques Beltrand in Paris, 1958-1959 - Superb work entirely illustrated by Paul Jouve with 56 illustrations, including a gold-embellished frontispiece and 8 full-page illustrations, 33 lettering by Paul Jouve, wood-engraved by Jacques Camille and Georges Beltrand. Two volumes in sheets with publisher's slipcovers, in very good condition (slight rubbing). One of the numbered copies on Rives vellum, this one enriched with a very fine autograph signed letter from the author to Marius Chapuis (known for having been one of the first promoters of the Lumière brothers' cinematograph, in particular). Enriched with a superb and very rare suite of decompositions of the illustrations in several states in black and sepia. Also includes a champlevage of an engraving not included in the book (indicated as such in pencil) and a curious collage marked ""Mise en trait?"". In-folio, 253pp in continuous pagination".
