Alfred Schlegge (1923 - 2015) - a German model of RMS Titanic in amber, circa 1940/50 Detailed, faithful reproduction, composed of numerous different colored pieces of amber. Several details such as the lifeboats, load cranes and masts carved in bone, the rigging and antennae made of fine brass wire. Mounted on a wooden stand. A small hole in the starboard top deck, one crane damaged. Length of the model 51 cm. The Titanic sadly achieved fame for sinking on its maiden voyage after colliding with an iceberg and dragging 1514 people down with it into the depths. Condition: II -
