Prayer books - Collection of 14 handwritten prayer books in German, Latin (1) and various Slavic (6) languages. With 2 engraved and colored Stations of the Cross cycles as well as numerous painted initials, headings, borders, head and tailpieces. Germany and Eastern Europe, 1691-1874. 9.5 x 6 cm to 22.5 x 18 cm. Mostly leather bindings of the period (4 in leather slipcases), some with some gilding or blind embossing (signs of wear). The earliest collection "Schöne Gebett" dated 1691, later continued and bound in 1806 in green leather with rich gilding, red heart appliqués and punched gilt edges, plus slipcase with red overlays and woven drawstring. - A prayer book "Poboznost" dated 1819 in black leather with German Stations of the Cross engravings and fine figurative book decoration in brown pen. - Another from 1844 "gewidmet für ein Frauenzimmer" illustrated in colorful rustic watercolor painting, as well as the "Blumen-Gärthlein" written in 1808 in velvet binding, the latter glued and without the original metal overlay. - Partly browned and fingerstained, one volume with ink damage, otherwise internally in good condition.
