Original red cloth bindings with gilt-stamped spine titles and publisher's signatures on the front covers (somewhat rubbed and bumped). Only edition, rare. - Nissen, ZBI 2877 - Detailed illustrated catalog of all 350 butterfly species known to date in Sri Lanka, often with their preforms. Moore (1830-1907) was a scientific draughtsman at the East India Museum and is best known for his multi-volume monograph "Lepidoptera Indica". The plates in the present work are based on studies by the local artists G. and W. de Alwis, but were revised by the author from original specimens, redrawn and transferred to the stone himself. - Endpapers, cut and some text pages somewhat foxed, a few leaves of volume 3 with a small compression mark in the outer margin, otherwise a very well-preserved copy.
