Schatz, Otto Rudolf. Untitled. Two original watercolors. Watercolors over pencil on firm wove paper. One sheet stamped on verso "Nachlass O. R. Schatz", the other with the Viennese studio stamp of "Prof. O. R. Schatz". Circa 1930/1950. sheet dimensions: each approx. 22 x 28 cm.
The Austrian artist Otto Rudolf Schatz (1900-1961) belonged "to the generation of painters who grew up with the Secession style, began their careers with Expressionism and ultimately founded the New Objectivity ... His erotic watercolors are among the best that was created in this field in the German-speaking world." (Klinger 11, p. 54.) - Minimally browned, verso with traces of an earlier mounting, one sheet with a strip of paper along the right edge, one sheet verso with a small red collector's stamp. - Provenance: From the collection of Hans-Jürgen Döpp, Frankfurt.
