Tapis - Tibet (1900-1920)

Thick wool rug hand-woven and knotted in Tibet, decorated with three lions' heads on a background of Buddhist symbols. Good condition 197 x 86 cm. Provenance: Sandro VOLTA Collection (1900-1986) and descendants. Sandro VOLTA, writer, journalist and art collector, signed the preface to his friend Tristan Tzara's "Manifesto of Dadaism". Part of his collection was sold by Maître Rheims at Hôtel Drouot on May 16 and 17, 1957. From 1925 to 1932, he was a correspondent for the newspaper LA STAMPA in China and Tibet.
