Thick wool rug hand-woven and knotted in Tibet, decorated with two lions chasing the luminous pearl set on red flames, symbolizing happiness, abundance, wisdom and knowledge for its owner. and knowledge for its owner. Good condition 162 x 92 cm. Provenance: Sandro VOLTA Collection (1900-1986) and descendants. Sandro VOLTA was a writer, journalist and art collector, who wrote the preface to his friend Tristan Tzara's "Manifeste du dadaïsme". Part of his collection was sold by Maître Rheims at Hôtel Drouot on May 16 and 17, 1957. From 1925 to 1932, he was a correspondent for the newspaper LA STAMPA in China and Tibet.
