Set of three animals; Spanish School; XX century. Clay. The sculpture of the boar has restorations. One of the pieces is signed. Measurements: 27.5 x 18 x 25 cm (larger); 7.5 x 20 x 12 cm (smaller). During the 19th and 20th centuries, animal-themed sculpture finally achieved its own status within the context of Romantic sculpture. Seeking to break away from the classical sculptural ideal, many artists saw in the animal theme a new way of expression, linked to the emotional and irrational nature, in a purely romantic sense.
