In-12, overlapping ivory vellum, gilt filleting with fleuron at corners, coat of arms in center, traces of binding, smooth spine decorated (Dutch binding of the period). First Elzevirian edition, decorated with a copper-engraved title-frontispiece, a medallion portrait of Julius Caesar, 5 full-page woodcuts in the text, and 3 folding maps. (Willems, n°420.) The masterpiece of Elzevirian printing. A vellum copy bearing the arms of the city of Rotterdam. Ex-libris label Jos. Raspieler. Incomplete with 3 maps. Slight scuffing on title-frontispiece.
