Large in-4, long-grained blue morocco, wide gilt and cold-stamped roulettes and gilt fillet framing the boards, richly ornamented spine, interior grecque, gilt edges (Simier R. du Roi). Superb edition of Bernardin de Saint-Pierre's masterpiece, illustrated with a portrait of the author and 6 fine out-of-text figures by Lafitte, Gérard, Girodet, Isabey, Prud'hon and Moreau le jeune, engraved on copper by Ribault, Bourgeois de la Richardière, Mecou, Prot, Roger, Bovinet and Tillement. Armorial stamp (crowned shield of vair) affixed at the top of the faux-titre. Very attractive binding by Simier, faded in places.
