Johann Michael Mettenleiter (1765 Großkuchen - Passau 1853), The conversation at the window. Pen-and-ink drawing in gray and pencil, gray wash, on wove paper with watermark "Medaillon Maximilian Joseph Koenig von Bayern". (Circa 1790). 25.1 x 18.6 cm. Inscribed "Mettenleiter" in an unknown hand verso. In collector's mount. - A glued tear in the upper right corner. Only faint brown spotting in upper margin. A delicate crease in the lower left corner. In good condition. Provenance: Heinrich Wilhelm Campe (1770-1862), Leipzig, with the dry stamp (Lugt 1391) lower right; Heinrich Brockhaus Collection (1804-1874), Leipzig, since then in family possession.
