Meissen Königliche Porzellanmanufaktur

Pendule en Colonne Porcelain, colored overglaze decoration, gilding, gilt metal/brass, white enamel dial, blued steel hands, domed glass. Small verge escapement, engraved "Gervasi & Pière Savaglio" on the plate. Two-part, screw-down, with added perforated cover. A cubic clock case in the center with domed oval fillings on the sides, painted in imitation porphyry, laurel festoons attached to lion's head mascarons at the bottom. Blue mark swords with star and II. Restoration to the shaft, the lid knob replaced in metal, the lid rim abraded. H 31.7 cm. Meissen, the model by Michel Victor Acier, circa 1772, the shape contemporary, the movement probably somewhat later. Provenance Acquired Lempertz Cologne auction 654 on June 22, 1990, lot 1970, there without lid. Literature Cf. cat. Meissen porcelain from 1710 to the present day.
