Le Discours. Rouen, Martin Le Mesgissier, 1560. In-4, green morocco, double gilt fillet, ornate spine, interior lace, gilt edges (Lortic fils). First edition of this collection of 117 moral sonnets, written by a dramatic poet from Rouen who drew on the work of Du Bellay. These sonnets express the disappointment of the honest man discouraged by the frivolity of courtiers and the uselessness of his own efforts in the realm of futility (J. P. Barbier-Mueller).
