Homilies, ou Discours sur l'oraison dominicale, escritte au 6. de S. Matthieu, & 11. de S. Luc. Paris, Mamert Patisson, 1585. Small in-12, red morocco, cold fillet, ornate spine, small inner lace, gilt edges (mid-19th century binding). First edition, dedicated to Henri III. This is the first of four Homilies composed by Pontus de Tyard and published during his episcopate at Chalon-sur-Saône. The other two were published by the same publisher in 1586, and the fourth was given in Paris by Claude Chappelet in 1588. Title printed in red and black type, adorned with the Estienne typographical mark. The sermon is preceded by two pieces by Jean Dorat, one in Greek and the other in Latin. Fine copy.
