Porcelain, colorfully painted, seated female nude on irregular grass base, underglaze blue manufactory mark (horizontal cross with "S") and embossed model number "12363" on the base, w 39 cm, probably designed by Otto Poertzel (1876 - 1963) ~1930, made by the porcelain manufacturer Scheibe - Alsbach ~1930, very good condition with no significant signs of use, undamaged and unrestored 4748 Otto Poertzel, born in Scheibe, learned his trade in the 1880s at the local porcelain factory A. W. Fr. W. Fr. Kister porcelain factory there in the 1880s and then trained partly self-taught as a sculptor, from 1900 he ran a studio in Coburg as an independent sculptor, in addition to a wealth of models, which were mainly executed in bronze, marble, alabaster and ivory, he supplied models for various porcelain manufactories, although unsigned, this figure is probably by Otto Poertzel with some certainty
