Hilt and grip engraved brass/bronze, chased and fire-gilt, metal grip with curved quillons with semicircular lobes and eagle figure, grip with lozenge bands and rosettes of leaves on both sides, pommel in the shape of a helmeted head, slightly curved Damascus blade with weak fullers on both sides, single-edged and broad back, double-edged towards the point, blade length 87.5 cm, total length 101 cm, weight 1,110 gr, original scabbard of engraved, engraved, punched and gilt brass with two suspension loops on ring loops set with oak leaves and a long drag, lozenge bands with leaf rosettes on both sides, the obverse side with embossed medallions with trophies of arms and two fighting hussars and a lion's head on the obverse side, the lower third of the reverse side with engraved scale decoration, total length 103 cm, total weight 1,820 gr, France 19th century, probably Premier Empire (1804 - 1815), signs of wear and use, gilding rubbed, blade possibly replaced/replaced (detailed condition report on request) 9101 This magnificent, probably French sabre is certainly a chamber piece for a senior officer, the high-quality workmanship with the engraved depictions, the formerly complete fire gilding and last but not least the exquisite Damascus blade, which was highly valued in France in the 19th century, make this piece stand out from the mass of common officers' sabres
