Preussischer Kavallerie - Pallasch

Cast brass hilt, basket with double third clasp, shell-shaped knuckle-guard and large thumb ring, full brass grip with diagonal fluting and downward pointing lion's head, broad, biconvex blade with double-edged edge and short, rounded point, minimal ricasso of a few millimeters, smith's mark (eagle) on the obverse side of the hilt, blade l 83.5 cm, w 4 cm, total l 98.5 cm, weight 1,420 gr, probably original leather-covered wooden scabbard with brass mountings, chape with blunt end and two eyelets, total length with scabbard 105 cm, Prussia/Potsdam 2nd half 18th century, overall good condition with signs of age and use, sword apparently untouched, scabbard with clear signs of use, rings re-soldered, suspension rings probably replaced, not tested 0116 special form of a Prussian cavalry palaver with two thirds clasps and shell ornament as well as full grip with lion's head, for similar models see Bernd A.
