Pagode au printemps Oil on carboard, signed lower right 33,5 x 46 cm - 13 1/4 x 18 1/8 in. Jean-Louis Paguenaud, born in 1876, is a French French painter whose childhood was bathed by the colors and influences of Algeria, where he grew up. He subsequently settled in Limoges, where he attended the School of Decorative Arts, while working as a painter in a porcelain factory. Paguenaud studied with William Bouguereau, one of the great masters of French academic painting. This experience undoubtedly helped refine his style and feed his creativity. However, it was his involvement that marked a turning point in his artistic career. His travels around the world were an inexhaustible source of inspiration particularly his stays in the Orient and the Far East, which had a profound influence his work.
