IVORY COAST Senoufo kpelie mask Kpelie mask with high arches marked by a double furrow, the convex forehead sculpted in the center with a bulb symbolizing the female sex. The mouth is prognathic, revealing the teeth. Scarification marks adorn the cheeks and forehead. On the edges of the mask, characteristic elements evoke the kapokie fruit, animal horns and legs. The forehead and cheeks are studded with tapestry nails. Wood with black patina, upholstery nails Probably 1950-60 H. 32 cm.
