Description

Louis VUITTON (1821-1892) X SUPREME

Louis Vuitton X Supreme (2000). Screen-printed skateboard. 77.5 x 19 cm. Presence of scratches. Note: Founded by James Jebbia in 1994, Supreme first opened its doors as a skate shop on Lafayette Street in New York. The brand has humbly built a cult following thanks to its uncompromising NY attitude, pop culture referencing designs and simple branding, such as the now iconic Supreme Box Logo. With an emphasis on authenticity and quality, Supreme quickly became the epicentre of the downtown skate community and a clubhouse for like-minded creative individuals. As a core element of the Supreme brand, it was only natural that skateboards became their canvas. Over the years, Supreme skateboards have showcased the work of many leading photographers, visual artists and musicians. The boards have become a time capsule for the brand and a coveted focal point for collectors. In 2017, the brand reached new heights, with the release of its collaborative effort with luxury fashion house, Louis Vuitton, at Palais Royale for the Autumn/Winter 2017 Menswear collection (source Sotheby's).
