CHRISTOFLE & CIE Rare pair of five-light gilt bronze and patinated candelabras decorated with foliage and flowers in finely chased relief. Christofle & Cie" engraved signature. Circa 1878 Height: 58 cm The Japanese-style flower motifs adorning these candelabras were certainly designed by Emile-Auguste Reibier (1826-1893), head of the Christofle workshop in the late 19th century. This artist had earned the nickname "High Priest of Japonism" in 1878 from the famous silversmith Falize.
