Pierre CHAREAU (1883-1950) Rare modernist corner bookcase with a structure composed of vertical panels and superimposed rectangular shelves in exotic wood veneer, embellished with blackened metal elements forming dividers and sliding fasteners. Pierre CHAREAU (1883-1950). A sconce, model LP180 called "Masque", variant LA315, in wrought iron and adjustable alabaster slab bulb cover. Height: 12 cm - Length: 23 cm - Width: 27 cm. Provenance: Estate of Monsieur Louis Thirion, furniture in the mansion built in 1923 by Gibert et Ogé, which has remained in the family ever since. Pierre Chareau was a French architect and designer born on August 4, 1883 in Bordeaux, France. He apprenticed with Waring & Gillow, a British furniture manufacturer based in Paris, after failing his entrance exams to the Ecole des Beaux-Arts. His last commission was a house in the Hamptons, commissioned by Robert Motherwell. Chareau died in 1950. Chareau's most famous work is the Maison de Verre, located at 31 rue Saint-Guillaume in Paris. Designed by Chareau in collaboration with Bernard Bijvoet, it is considered one of the most universally recognized architectural masterpieces of the 20th century. Expert : Madame Amélie MARCILHAC

Pierre CHAREAU (1883-1950) Curved bookcase with small shelf and cabinet opening on two concave leaves with swivel pedestal table in sycamore, the parchment bottom, on square-section central foot, chrome-plated metal shoe on castor. This element is positioned to the left of the parchment-trimmed double headboard, symmetrically to an inverted C-shaped shelf. Matching small end-of-bed bedside table with rounded uprights, chrome-plated vertical fillets and angled plinth.
