German guitar from the Stauffer school, sold at Joseph Bernet's in Au Locle in the canton of Neuchâtel, Switzerland. Spruce top (some restorations). Circa 1840/1850. Bird's-eye maple back and sides, 20-fret ebony fingerboard, blackened wood neck. Stauffer-shaped headstock with chased turntable. Restored back joint. With its original veneered cherrywood box, bronze fittings and inlaid edges. Total length 96.5 cm, width at nut 48 mm. Vibrating length 642 mm Instrument restored to playable condition
