编号 305 - Two Sundanese puppets from the Wayang Golek theatre, West Java, Indonesia, late 19th/early 20th century The wayang golek is a variant of the oldest Javanese artistic expression, the wayang-kulit or shadow theater for which puppets made of leather are used - Two Sundanese puppets from the Wayang Golek theater, West Java, Indonesia, late 19th/early 20th century The wayang golek is a variant of the oldest Javanese artistic expression, the wayang-kulit or shadow theater for which puppets made of leather are used. In wayang-golek the puppets are three-dimensional and made of wood: the head is attached to the body by a pin and can therefore move by turning left and right; the arms have two joints, one at the shoulder and one at the elbow and are moved by the dalang (the interpreter of the narration) with the help of thin rods secured to the puppet's hands. The figure is dressed in cloth clothes and the face painted in the minimum expressive details required by the various characters in the story. The narrative repertoire of wayang-golek is usually taken from stories that actually happened to characters who lived in Java after the advent of Islam, especially those connected to the life of the Arab prince Amir Hamzah, but it also uses the traditional narrative repertoire, staging themes taken from Bharatayuddha (the Javanese version of the Indian epic Mahabharata) and the Ramayana. Among the puppets, some of the main protagonists of the Mahabharata (Bima, Ariuna, Druna, Draupadi) and the Ramayana are recognizable. (Hanuman) and some characters from Amir Hamzah's stories. height approx. 75 cm 42 cm
